Me before mind mapping: a thousand ideas flying through my head at the speed of light. Thoughts about relationships and dating and my website and my life and my son and eating and law of attraction and friendships and books I want to read and things I want to do and my heart’s desires and grocery list and things we need to buy and chores I absolutely need to do and products I need to create and vision for my business and ……

Are you tired and confused yet? I sure was and I was only able to manage a fraction of all this stuff. The most frustrating part was that some really great ideas would come and go, flying through my head and I could not effectively capture them. I tried keeping an idea file, a great tool that woks for some, but for me it was basically yet another list. Lists make me feel bored, overwhelmed and are generally ineffective with me. My typical reaction to a list is to read it, and then ignore it completely and go do something that is not on it. I know, sometimes I can be so mature.

About a year ago I was reading something about marketing online and being effective and saving time, and ran across the idea of mind mapping.
I know this is not a new idea, but it was new to me. So I looked around for an easy mind mapping solution to see if this way of recording information would help me. I ran across an online mind mapping service and thought I would try them out.

It turned out that mind mapping was the key to controlling the wind of ideas flying through my head without stopping. I truly, truly love mind mapping and I highly recommend it to everyone as a way of managing projects and ideas.

I now have 37 mind maps. For example, I have a map of article ideas. And I have learned to go to this map as soon as an article idea pops in my head. I can email the idea to my map, or I can put it in through a web interface, or through my igoogle page. The main thing is I capture it now, so that it is not lost. But this is not the best part.

The best part of me is going back into the mind map when I need something. I am no longer stuck looking over a list. I can see my ideas in a visual form, and quickly be drawn to the ideas or information I need. It saves me tremendous amount of time. More importantly, somehow combining words/ideas with a visual mapping of them gets my creativity flowing and overcomes my resistance to doing what’s on the list, and I love that!

Check out this great mind mapping service. It only cost $4 a month, and it is very much worth it!

Love Coach, I love this. I am going to check it out. I am not sure what all the lingo is about learning types and all that, kinesthetic, etc but I wonder if that is why this is working for you. I love this idea and I think it would be an effective tool for me.
