Gmail+Aweber+Rapportive= Awesome!

Do you use gmail? If so, here’s something new and very cool!

Rapportive – rapportive.com – is a browser extension that works as an add on for gmail. It adds a lot of information to the new left-hand contact pane in gmail.

If you don’t know what I mean, go look in your gmail. Click on any email and when it’s opened, look at the right hand panel next to your inbox. See the contact’s info there?

If you connect Rapportive to your gmail, and log into your own social profiles, you will be able to see in that contact info how the person is connected with you and what they are doing on the web.

This could be invaluable for business, job searching, etc, as you will immediately know more about the person and be able to communicate with them more specifically, meeting more accurately both of your agendas.

What’s even more exiting is that Rapportive connects with Aweber. Don’t know what Aweber is or why that’s exiting?

Aweber is an email broadcasting and subscriber management service. For those of you who still don’t know what that is or why you would care, here’s a brief explanation:

If you have business presence on the web, you need a way to communicate with your prospects. Aweber makes it easy for you to collect your prospect email addresses and then communicate with them by email newsletters, broadcasts, special offer, etc.

There are a number of outstanding services like this on the web. All are similarly priced and have similar features. What’s outstanding about aweber is that they work on their ability for your email to get through to it’s intended recipient, by working with ISPs to make sure email from Aweber does not get marked as spam, but instead gets delivered to your subscribers email box. Because if your email does not get delivered, what’s the point of sending it?

So, back to Rapportive and gmail. Once you install Rapportive into gmail, log into your aweber account and go to apps at the top of the page. Read instructions on how to connect Rapportive to Aweber. Now if your contact is on any of your aweber lists you will see that information in your gmail contact info column as you communicate with them. You will see what list(s) they are on, what emails they have gotten from you, etc.

Awesome!

What will you do with this information? How will you use it? Let me know!

Social Media Marketing: Why Bother?

Social Media Marketing is an essential peace of the puzzle for online marketing business success. The primary reason for this is because social media – namely Facebook and YouTube – are where the consumer are. In the same way, LinkedIn is where the professionals are.

And if your potential customers are spending a large percentage of their time somewhere, you most definitely want to have a presence in that venue/location! Fish where the fish are biting!

Additionally, social media can serve as a rich source of links back your relevant website pages and place you in a higher position in the search engines, especially google, which will bring you more potential clients as they search for services or products such as yours.

As much as small business owners are already overwhelmed with many tasks of running and managing their business, it is best to run your own social media marketing campaigns. It’s a good idea to have someone set up Facebook, YoTube and LinkedIn profiles for you. And it is a good idea to run your messages and marketing ideas by a qualified professional. However, the execution of the marketing messages should be done by you, with your own flare and your own language.

Doing your own social media marketing is a way to guarantee that your voice, your dedication to your business and your energy comes through your communication on the web and connects you with your potential customers.

The Basic Essential Components of Social Media Presence on the Web are the following:

Facebook Page and Profile, both about your business
YouTube profile with at least a couple of engaging videos
plus text/links to connect back to your website
LinkedIn Profile to promote your professional image

You can set these components up yourself and start using them to promote your business, or you can work with me on your social media marketing success. For more information on how I can help you please go to getsocialbuzz.com/services.html

cellphoneIf you are a coach or another professional who uses teleseminars as a part of delivering content to your customers, you know what a hassle it is to use those free bridge lines from Mr. Conference and others like them.

On the one hand they are free, which is a very good price. On the other hand the quality of the lines and the phone calls often leaves much to be desired, which makes you, as the professional, look pretty bad in front of your clients or potential clients.

The paid bridge lines are often not much better. There are still many technical difficulties and you just learn to be red in the face a little bit, apologize and try to deliver to your participants the best of your content anyway.

Some of the newer services allow teleconferencing and simultaneous listening to a webcast, for those people who don’t want to make a phone call. Plus they allow questions to be posted through a chat interface during the live call. This is actually pretty cool, if your audience would rather listen to your live call on the internet and interact with you by chat.  Although the quality of the phone lines on these services still leaves a little bit to be desired.

And now there’s a new player on the teleconferencing block which I am pretty exited about. I have heard about them now three times. I have a rule that if something comes up three times it must be checked out.

I was already exited about this service, as I participated in a call using it, but I did not look at it because I figured the prices would be out of reach for me as an average business owner. When I finally went and looked at their site today I was pleasantly surprised – the prices are fairly competitive and I think well worth the service.

Here’s what I love about this teleconference service: As a group leader you can see who raises their hand to speak, call on them by name and have a public conversation with them. You can also break the call up into small private groups and virtually “walk” through the groups listening to what’s being said to get a sense for what’s happening on the call. Lastly people can show interest in your products and services by pressing certain keys on their phone keypad. Their name, email address and phone number are captured for later contact, while the call is undisturbed.

I know you can see how these features will enhance your effectiveness on your teleconference calls as well as your effort to more effectively market your products and services.

But don’t take my word for it, go check them out yourself. They have a free trial. And don’t forget to tell me what you think.

vitaminsIf you have ever shopped at a health food store, such as Whole Foods, neighborhood health food store, or the health-food section of your supermarket, you know vitamins, homeopathics, tinctures and natural body stuff – sunscreen, soaps and lotions – are very pricey!

I used to grumble about the price and still buy my kid chemical free sunscreen, shampoo and soap because I have too. Same goes for all the other stuff I would buy in the health food store supplement section. But then I got tired of spending so much money and started looking online for places to buy supplements and natural body care.

I have tried a couple of different websites which have been ok. But just recently ran across a website I love.

Their selection is great and they seem to have most everything in stock. Their prices are about 30% + percent of retail. Their shipping is cheap- often $3.50 per order! -  and fast. They seem to charge no tax. And they are verified, certified and well reviewed. I have placed two orders with them so far and I love them.

Here’s the website and a bonus code to get $5 of your first order: www.iherb.com and use coupon code SEK231.

If you buy supplements and other natural care items at a health food store currently, go browse www.iherb.com and you will be amazed by their prices and the ease of shopping this way.

If you end up using www.iherb.com – and don’t forget your $5 off cupon code – SEK231 – let me know what you think below in the comments.

New Shopping Cart to Rival 1ShoppingCart

shop_cartI am always on the lookout for new – and cheaper – business resources. I just ran across something that I must share with you immediately!

* Do you sell products or services online?
* Do you sell digital products or downloads?
* Do you have an affiliate program, or want to have one?
* Do you use a shopping cart service, such as 1 shopping cart?
* Do you have or want to have autoresponders to go with your sales process?

If you answer yes to most of the questions above, this may be of interest to you.

Do you know that 1 shopping cart is something like $70 to $100 a month, if you want to use their affiliate system and digital download system? It’s ok if you business is booming and if you are entrenched in their system.

But if you are just starting to think about setting up either an affiliate or a digital download system, consider this shopping cart.

For 10 products, it’s $5 a month. You heard me right. $5 a month!!

And they have an affiliate module, and autoresponder module and a digital download module. They look like they deliver the same if not better level of merchant experience than the 1shopping cart system. Very little money and all the bells and whistles a merchant needs online – my response is sign me up!

I am working on a couple of products that I will be selling through their system. If all goes well, I am planning to migrate all of my products to their system by fall.

Now it’s your turn, go check this shopping cart system out, see what you think and let me know.

chocolateIf you haven’t noticed I have been MIA for about two months now. I haven’t blogged much, haven’t twitted much, and generally have just been gone. What have I been up to? EFT!

For some of you, EFT is old news. And some of you may have no idea what EFT is at all. Either way, here’s my story about EFT:

First off all, EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. I ran across EFT years ago. Someone showed me a few printed out pages with acupuncture points on them and a procedure for tapping these points with fingertips to deal with emotional issues. It looked like something that would not work, so I dismissed it.

About three months ago I came across EFT again by way of twitter. I noticed many people were EFT coaches and wondered what EFT was. So I followed a few links and ended up on emofree.com, where I started reading articles by EFT practitioners on their success with EFT.

One article in particular – I can’t find it now unfortunately – struck me. The practitioner was describing rapid healing results from deep emotional issues for a client in three sessions. This sounded intriguing to me. Three sessions to heal a lifetime of trauma sounds good, doesn’t it? [read more…]

magicAre you one of these people who gets a great parking space every time you want one, or who gets a phone call from a person you’ve been thinking about? Are you someone who’s good at getting the trains or busses to come just when you need one, or getting people to help you when you need help?

Most of us are good at creating magic, albeit sporadically, in one of more areas of out life. The perfect dress at the perfect price, just the right card or book when you need one, the perfect table at your favorite coffee shop, how does that happen? Do you ever wonder why it’s so easy for you to sometimes pull things out of thin air, but at other times it’s nearly impossible to get what you want?

Why is it so hard to attract money, or the right relationship? [read more…]

magic_wandI was reading an article in the CNN.com Living section by Martha Beck, one of the authors who writes for Oprah Magazine. It was an article about how shifting our mindset to the fact that we always have enough changes many difficult situations in life automatically.

Towards the end of the article Beck list a great exercise: “List 20 — or 50, or 1,000 — wonderful things that entered your life just at the right time, with no effort on your part. Start with the little things (oxygen, sunlight, a song on the radio). [read more…]

weight_controlHealth is something you are lucky to have and weight management is something you have to work hard for, right? People’s bodies inevitably show signs of age with wrinkling, sagging, loss of vision and hearing, etc. Our bodies are machines that wear out with time and sometimes break and there not much we can do about it. Disease is inevitable and all we can do is hope medicine has the cure.

Do you believe all of the above statements, or some of them, or a version of them? Do you also believe in Law of Attraction?

If so, have you thought about applying Law of Attraction to your health and body? In other words, have you though of using your thoughts to deliberately create the health and body you want? Sometimes [read more…]

I do my own business taxes. I know, I know, I should delegate it out. But, in my defense, in order to delegate I would have to get all my receipts in order and all my financial records straight and by the time I do that, the taxes are basically done.

I have been doing taxes like this for all the years I have had a business and am now pretty good at it. I like going onto the IRS.gov website and doing research into tax issues just a bit, and keeping up on the latest small business deductions. Yes, I am a geek like that.

So I was finishing my taxes last week and it downed on me. If I want to pay less taxes I have a number of tax shelters:
Make less – why would I do that?
Give more to charity – true, but I would also like to keep more
Have more expenses I can write of as business expenses – true again, but I am actually working on spending less on running my business as an exercise in simplicity
Save more – hmmm, haven’t considered this before as a tax strategy. [read more…]
